Knit an irresistibly soft Heart Bear with this detailed chunky-yarn knitting pattern.

This cuddly seated teddy features a large white heart on its tummy, matching heart-shaped foot pads, contrast paw patches and a softly shaped white muzzle. Its oversized feet, rounded body and long arms give the finished bear a wonderfully huggable appearance.

The finished bear measures approximately 35 cm (14 inches) when seated, although the final size may vary slightly depending on your tension, yarn choice and stuffing.

The pattern includes instructions for knitting and assembling the body and head, muzzle, arms, legs, shaped ears, contrasting paws, belly heart and two heart-shaped foot pads.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

• 2 x 100g balls of plush chunky yarn in the main colour  
• 1 x 100g ball of plush chunky yarn in the contrast colour  
• One pair of 5mm knitting needles – UK 6 / US 8  
• Two 16mm safety eyes  
• One 9mm safety nose  
• Washable toy stuffing  
• Darning needle  

The original bear was designed using James C. Brett Flutterby Chunky. Another suitable plush chunky yarn may also be used, although the finished size and appearance can vary.

Please note that this type of plush yarn should be cast on and cast off loosely.

Suitable for knitters who are comfortable with stocking stitch, increasing, decreasing, shaping, sewing knitted pieces together and attaching safety features.

The bear is knitted in separate pieces before being stuffed and assembled. The heart decorations are knitted separately and sewn securely into position.
