Bring a cheerful touch to teatime with this beehive tea cosy knitting pattern, complete with adorable little knitted bees.

Designed to resemble a traditional beehive, the cosy features alternating bands of stocking stitch and raised knitted ridges. The gradually shaped top creates its distinctive rounded hive silhouette, while the separately knitted black-and-yellow bees have tiny white wings and lightly stuffed bodies.

Instructions are included for three sizes:

• Small: fits a 2-cup, 500ml teapot
Approximate height: 12cm
Approximate circumference: 35cm

• Medium: fits a 4-cup, 900ml teapot
Approximate height: 15cm
Approximate circumference: 46cm

• Large: fits a 6–8-cup, 1500ml teapot
Approximate height: 20cm
Approximate circumference: 52cm

The cosy is worked flat in two sections, with openings left for the teapot handle and spout. The sections are joined and shaped towards the crown before the completed bees are arranged and sewn into place.

You will need:

• One 100g ball of mustard DK yarn
• Small amounts of black, yellow and white DK yarn
• 4mm knitting needles
• 3.25mm knitting needles for the bees
• Stitch holder
• Small amount of toy filling
• Darning needle

The pattern uses stocking stitch, garter stitch, basic increases, decreases, shaping and simple assembly. It is suitable for knitters comfortable with following a repeating stitch pattern and sewing knitted pieces together.

This listing is for a digital PDF knitting pattern only. No finished tea cosy, teapot or physical pattern will be posted.
